" He didn't tell me an awful lot of stories, maybe he figured I was too young to fully grasp them. Where I am from there's still a lot of shipwrecks at the bottom of the sea." Salome had been to a few 'museums' in Puerto Rico where Zeon earth forces had been operating from the ports. There were a few of those funny looking amphibious mobile suits on display. Fighting in this area had been rather sporadic with only a few skirmishes taking place early and alter on the war. The Zeon forces that remained on earth were stretched thin and thus made easy pickings for the overwhelming Federation counter attacks that came towards the end. Salome would put the shower away, taking time now to get dressed. The way she saw it would be like unlikely they were to be called into action after just arriving so she would only put on a pair of pants and a black undershirt that nicely hugged her natural curves. " We should go out and try to get acquainted with the rest of the crew, what do you say?" Salome had gotten a bit hungry, thinking it was time to check was the cooking on board this ship was like. Having finished her tea she felt compelled to put something else in her belly.

"I guess I can't blame him. Even the little I've seen when I was a civilian--how could I explain it to those who'll come after us?" he asked.
There were no mobile suits in the left over in Philippines. But whole islands were gone--decimated by the tidal waves that had surged after the impact. Cities rent asunder by secondary earthquakes. His family's own ancestral estate, now in ruins. How could he take someone to a building with molding walls and sun-bleached floors where the roof had caved in; where even squatters shied away? How could he describe the beauty that had been their prior? He downed the rest of his tea.
While Salome went about picking her wardrobe, Crisanto slipped off to the shower himself. He made a hasty affair of it, reaching for the soap before the water had even struck him. It was a habit he'd only developed in the last few months. An expectation that there would be no hot water. That some bustling, impatient crowd would be waiting for their turn nonetheless. Strange how weeks could outweigh all the years that came prior. Life so easily undone. He pushed those thoughts aside, slipping on khaki trousers and a plain white shirt as he rejoined his roommate.
"Let's go!" he answered, letting her lead the way.

Earth Federation warships cafeterias were usually well stocked, being open through most of the day. There were always at least a dozen people working in the kitchen, Clop class cruisers were small vessels in that regard. No one serving on board a federation warship would suffer malnourishment since the pantry was always kept fairly well stocked, an effort only made possible thanks to their superior logistics. Their supply convoys always found them no matter how far from Earth they found themselves.
Food was cooked fresh everyday and today they would be served breaded chicken steak with a side of vegetables and mashed potatoes. It was edible but not very seasoned. For drink there was ice cold hibiscus tea or plain purified water water. Salome had never been picky about her meals and this food was without a doubt of gourmet quality at least they weren't dried up emergency rations packed with conservatives.
" No telling when we'll be sent into battle so let's eat our fill while we still can." Salome couldn't stand the idea of heading into battle on an empty stomach. Like him she was a Zeta Plus pilot, by now a platform that had been around for well over two decades, it was nonetheless still capable within it's assigned roles.

Back at the ZZ, which was now in space moving about. Henry would be giving specific movements and maneuvers he had learn from when was designated this Mobile Suit, it went smoothly so far as he was impressed with Eva’s learning capabilities, although he would worry for the much more extreme actions the mobile suit was capable of when in combat, if she could handle it that was.
"Okay, it seems you’ve got it down to a solid T on the controls, movements, systems, weapons, all that’s left are the fast-paced high stakes techniques this bad boy can pull off, but I’d save that for later, if that’s not wrong Eva?"
He would offer a warm smile as he laughed.

Lt. Commander Eva's opinion of the ZZ changed when she was able to spend sometime behind the controls. It certainly felt like a much heavier Zeta Gundam, like someone had grabbed a Regz or a Zeta Plus and strapped a battleship reactor in it. The amount of energy available to the weapon systems alone put everything into context for the blond: This wasn't like the mobile suits she'd gotten so comfortable using and it would require her to change certain ways to conduct herself in battle.
" This is a very impressive machine! Not what I am used to but that doesn't mean it's bad." The blond was confident her MP Nu had a certain advantage in close quarters combat, at least for a fairly experienced pilot in the platform like she was. She would proceed to perform sharp turns, wanting to test the power setting on those verniers whe it came to doing sudden maneuvers and changes in direction.

Henry would laugh as she would boost and make extreme turns and alternations in movement, this was the type of excitement he had when he first obtained the ZZ Vier, although, he’d wonder if she could take it on in a test battle, he would smirk and then look to her.
"How about when you’re done we can have a test battle, 1 on 1 to compare our Mobile suits, winner gets to choose what the other person wants them to do."
He wanted to add a bit of fun to it and wonder if she’d take him up on it.

Crisanto tended towards the mashed potatoes. The texture was fit for something tasteless, and it went down easily with water. Filling, too. The chicken required a bit more of an adventuresome spirit to force down. Still, he knew that Salome was right. Though it was only their first day as partners, he was already coming to trust her judgments. He tried to stuff down even more advice. Just in case, like she was saying.
"How did you feel when you found out you were assigned to pilot a Zeta Plus? Is it everything you imagined?" he asked between mouthfuls.

" I could go for a simulator battle." Eva Angelina was not the type of person to turn down such offer. The closest she'd come to fighting a ZZ involved going against a Doven Wolf so this was a golden opportunity to expand her knowledge. Her yellow eyes sparkled when she heard Henry's offer but didn't say anything, simply gave a giggle of approval. Right away she made another vertical sharp turn or as sharp as the ZZ mass allowed it, thankfully the acceleration allowed her to regain all that lost speed after a brief moment. After a few minutes she'd landed back on the Hidalgo.
This wasn't the time to wear down their mobile suits with a live exercise. All they had to do was boot up a simulation program back at the hangar. Eva Angelina released her straps and opened the hatch. " Give me a couple of minutes." She would leap out the ZZ, floating towards the green and dark gray RX-94 Mass produced Nu Gundam. A equally large mobile suit, albeit one with more balanced performance.
----
" I can't say I am dissapointed. As long as you exploit your advantages I am confident it will be able to bring us back alive." Salome looked curious when she saw that slightly uneasy expression on Crisanto's face while having his chicken steak. Unlike him, she'd sprinkled salt all over her meal. Things were relatively calm right now, a situation that could change at any second. " There's a few things we can do. Go to our stations in the hangar or maybe go to the range." She was sure that if they were needed they would be reached, just had to always be ready.
Upon cleaning up the food on her tray and only then would Salome gulp down that tangy, crimson tea.
