She’d look back at the food, with a confused look...
“What...What is this?”

" It's a sirloin steak with a side of rice and Ceasar salad. I don't know how you like it so I cooked it well done." She would explain, setting her fork and knife down.
Lucia had gotten Sypha used to less fancy cooking.

The girl would grab the steak with her hands and take a bite out of it. She struggled to bite off a piece. She clearly didn’t know how to eat this kind of food..

" We'll, is it good?" Marina refrained herself from bringing attention to Sypha's lack of table manners. After all she was a war orphan, not a snooty junior officer.
The older woman would stand from her seat, taking the chair next to the teenage girl before grabbing her set of silver ware. Marina began cutting up the steak in small pieces.
" Like so... Now say Ahh. Chew each bite repeatedly and please don't talk with your mouthful, alright?" Once the steak had been cut entirely she would return to her chair.
" We are going to need to get you new clothes. We'll do that tomorrow."

The girl was surprised by how the lady helped her. She’d begin to listen to the lady and start eating according to how the lady described. After the lady had said that they would be going out for clothes tomorrow, the girl would finish a bite of the steak and nod slowly..
“Y-Yes, ma’am...”

A few weeks later...
Marina had gone to a civil office to register Sypha as a lawful European citizen. She used her connections to come up with a cover story and of course paid quite a lot to speed up the process significantly.
A private tutor would show up at the house to educate the girl everyday. All Marina cared about was making a literate young woman out of her then they could worry about learning different languages. The blond would remain at Sypha's side, tutoring her every step of the way. For the first time in two decades a sincere smile was ever present on Marina's face as she patiently did her best to educate the taciturn teenager.

The girl was confused...’Why is she helping me? Why does she care for me? I didn’t do anything for her’...just one of the many thoughts in her mind. The girl gained a newfound respect for the lady, and she had even started to talk even more to the lady. But, the lady was the only one she would really open up to, as the girl had limited her conversations with anyone who wasn’t the lady, like with the tutor. Though she showed respect for others, she tried her best to limit how far a conversation would go with them. A huge contrast to how she acted with the lady who cared for her. Sometimes, the girl would call the lady ‘Mother’..

The first time Sypha called Marina mother she froze on the spot and broke into silent tears. Later that afternoon they would sit down at the living room. Marina would confess to Sypha her affiliation to the Earth Federation space forces in case it wasn't already obvious by the pictures and citations hanging from the wall. Marina did not rule out the possibility that she could have been involved in the tragedy that left Sypha parentless, unaware of her true nature as a living newtype weapon. For Marina, taking care of this girl was a way for her to atone for her own sins.

Sypha did not care for Marina's past. She just wanted to be with her new mother. Sypha loved her as family...something that she never had.
