20th of June- UC 0079
Villaflores- Southern Mexico
For four months, the spear head of the 2nd Zeon Invasion attack Force had been waging a bloody battle with the Earth Federation ary in the humid and lush Mexican jungles. The Frontline extended from the Pacific coast all the way to the Caribbean shoreline. Due to the region geography it wasn't a very wide front which was the reason it had been strategically choosen by the Zeonic high command since it would be easier to manage and contain the Federation on such a narrow strip of land.
The lush jungle canopy was ideal to hide heavily fortified defenses from the prying eyes of the Federation airforces which actively roamed the skies above. Everyday air skirmishes would erupt over the jungle as Federation and Zeon air assets fight over dominance of the skies. There had been reports of captured Zaku IIs conducting raids on Zeon lines, obviously in the hands of Federation pilots slipping through the cracks. Since then defenses had been reinforced and new methods of identification established to discover any infiltrators looking to attack behind their lines.
Most of the mobile suit units posted at the front were now equipped with new MS-09 Dom's and MS-07 Goufs. The Zaku equipped units had been diverted to other areas away from the front or simply converted into amphibious variants to operate on the two continental oceans so close together from one another.
Three Doms arrived at 11th armored divisions supply depot via transport. After being inspected by the supply corps they were sent to one of the elements currently holding the line, lead by Captain Catherine Albright. he 29 year old female commander was a veteran of the One Week battle, having proved herself in the battles for the US Great plains four months earlier. Now she was in charge of a four man reaction force tasked to act as the local fire brigade.
The Batallion headquarters was a bunker deep inside the jungle protected by an AA unit and their own artillery battery. At their make shift hangar, Captain Albright took a closer look at the Dom's which had been painted in dark green and brown tones to better blend in with the jungle surrounding them.
" It's not going to be easy to hover around with all these mountains around us ... " She mused to herself, wiping away the sweat that gathered on her forehead with a bandanna she kept in handy. Catherine was dressed in a no frills Zeon ground forces uniform, her rank badge not even visible.
