Edwards Colony, Side 5 January 10th, UC 0084 The clock was approaching mid-morning on Edwards Colony (located Side 5) but things were far from quiet. A large number of residents had taken to protesting in response to the news that had recently reached their ears. The Earth Federation was to undertake a massive reorganization of the sides, including Side 5 and their side would be moved to point L4. Not only that, but the obvious signs of a military presence showed the residents that the Federation was not going to take no for an answer. People were upset with the perceived overreach of the Earth Federation Government and the military presence including the now present titans who were given an outpost on their colony. In a massive blob of a crowed people took to the streets outside the colony capital shouting their discontent and waving their signs as lines of police tried to keep them back. They were growing more and rowdier by the moment, and as time went on more people joined their ranks. First lieutenant Ronan Mahoney a veteran of the one year war was performing the boot-up sequence of his GM Sniper II which was painted in the signature colors of the Titans. "The system is green across the board. Deploying." he declared over encrypted comms. A disinterested tone in his voice as he took the controls of his mobile suit. He had not signed up for quelling protests or riots, but to grind the remaining Zeons into the dirt. Now, it was important to make sure that Zeon did not find a foothold of course, but surely the local police could handle this? He sighed and knew if anything that his comrades could be right. This whole effort could simply be to draw Zeon in this side out from hiding. "Doubt the cowards would be so stupid." he said to himself glancing off to the side as he motioned his mobile suit to grab his armament and equipment. With his right hand, he grabbed a BOWA BR-M-82L-9 L-9 Type Beam Rifle from the rack, and then a NFHI RGM-M-Sh-AGD Shield which he attached to the left arm of his Sniper II. "Connections are good. In route." he said as he pumped the pedals of his mobile suit which began to walk outside of the hanger. Absentmindedly he leafed through one of the digital menus on the screen. "Sealant Launchers full..." he mumbled before looking forward. Sig or Sigstein curiously yet quietly stood down the street from the protest observing them on his street corner. Wearing a cloak in the gentle breeze the young man tilted his head at a peculiar sound. In front of the protesters, more armored assets began to arrive like M62 Security Enforcement Armored Buses with local Colony markings. More Colony Security Personnel filtered in to keep the protesters at bay. Then he heard the sound of panicked footsteps as he noticed civilians in street clothes run past him towards the crowd. Looking behind himself he saw a column of M62 Four-Wheeled Armored Vehicles and M62 Four-Wheeled Armored Vehicles with lines of colony security on either side of them holding shotguns, riot shields, and batons. Some even had something that looked like a flame thrower on their back. Curious eyes followed as they approached and then passed by. A shove, someone shoved him to the side. "Beat it, kid, go home if you know what's good for you." A gruff voice said as Sig caught himself on the building wall next to him. He had been shoved by one of the soldiers and told to scram. What were they doing? He didn't move from the spot as he saw them close off that end of the street. It had been decided to disperse the protest and arrest as many as possible as a show of force. Sig could feel it in the air, but just barely that something bad was about to happen. He could sense the hostile intent that oozed from the soldier that shoved him. Then there was something else. a quiet thump he could feel in his bones. What was it? With a quiet expression he turned around and walked a block down the street and peered out beyond the buildings. He saw it, in the distance from the military base he could see mobile suits. He breathed out quietly his eyes fixed on the form wondering just what they were planning on doing here?

There were several places Ryoko Kihara preferred to be in right now. Much like the rest of the old pilots whom had survived the one year war she'd signed in with the Titans to root out and stomp whatever vestiges remained of the old principality-not to enforce some laws on the citizens of this colony.
The green haired officer would grumble on the seat of her RGM-79C GM Command. " Alright everyone we're here to deter anyone from doing some real dumb shit. Weapons tight, nobody fires anything unless I give the order." She would bark at the rest of the unit, being the officer in charge. After surviving the One year war on the ground even this colony full of rioting protesters was a peaceful paradise compared to the hell they'd gone through.
" Form a perimeter and keep only 50 meters of separation from each other!"Since she wasn't expecting much of a fight today, Ryoko's GM command was merely armed with a shield, the beam sabers and a belt of 60mm vulcan. As commander she only really fought when more serious opposition was expected.

"Understood, moving into position." Ronan would reply back over short-range radio keeping up his professional appearance. Adjusting the position of the GM Sniper II in the formation he would make sure there were 50 meters between himself and Ryoko as well as one of the other mobile suits in the unit. Position adjusted he kept forward heading to the objective."Seems like we will be sitting and watching then?" he would ask though believed the answer was pretty obvious. Moment things got serious the protesters would try and disperse. Approaching the streets that led to the center of this colony's government he could see the capital building which rose up over the surrounding buildings. His mobile suit came to a stop at the coordinates of H5 where he stared down the street and into the rowdy crowd of protesters."In position." he said as he would notice the Colony Security Forces move into position blocking the streets. Seems they did not intend on willing letting people go that refused to disperse.
Sig had been watching from where he stood like a group of mobile suits moved to the end of each street."GM Command..." he said quietly pointing at the mobile suit that was coming to his street."GM Sniper II..." he said trailing off a little as he counted the mobile suits he was spotting. He couldn't really make out the others as he put his index finger to his chin after having pointed at the head of the Sniper. Non nonchalantly he walked down the street into the more open area just next to where the GM Command had gone. Tilting his head he saw a GM Quel to the North and a GM Quel to the south his head turning to look at each one of them."One... two... three... four..." he said before seeing another GM Quel even further off as he took a curious step forward and leaned in a little."Another GM Quel... that makes five..." he said gently nodding his head still close to the GM Command.
Then he heard something behind him, a loudspeaker which rose over the rowdy crowd."This is an illegal gathering! Disperse now! This is your one and only warning!" a gruff voice shouted out over the loudspeaker. Some people filtered out but many more stayed, egged on by the size of the crowd. Then, bricks and bottled flew in response to which the riot control colony security forces opened up. Firing off tear gas, rubber bullets, and spraying down protesters with riot foam. Sig watched this from the distance worry welling up in him as the colony security would beat up on people trapped by riot foam with batons."They are cracking down pretty hard..." he mumbled in observation. But the colony security was having trouble, the protesters turned rioters as they fought back.

"... Command post this is Outlaw leader. Tell the men on the ground we are going to use flash grenades on the crowds. T minus 10." Ryoko's GM Command had stablished a secure line with their control center. It was obvious now that the protesters were getting frisky so they would have to take matters onto their hands.
All of the GM anti personnel launchers had been rigged with smoke and flash grenade dispensers originally designed to neutralize any on foot attackers who dared to get too close to a mobile suit.
" Fire the first few behind their formation, as a little warning." While her patience had ran out it wasn't her intention to hurt anyone too badly. If any of those grenades fell directly on an unlucky rooter it could still prove fatal. Once the riot control officers on the ground had lowered their visors, Ryoko would give the order to the GMs closer to the rioters to discharge a barrage of nine bangers that would without a doubt severely concuss anyone close enough.

Flash grenades? Well, Ronan was getting a bit fed up with the protesters now. No, they weren't really protesters anymore, they were full on rioters the moment they had decided to start throwing bricks and bottles. "Command post to Outlaw leader, understood." the Command Post would radio back to Ryoko before transmitting the information to the Colony Security Troops currently engaged with the rioters. Ronan would cycle through to his anti-personnel launchers which were rigged with smoke and flash grenades. To be honest, he had seen harsher responses prior to the one year war on the live news feed. They were letting them off lightly with this he figured."Understood, firing behind their formation." Ronan would communicate as he with a straight face began to aim the launchers."There..." he quietly said having lined up the shot. Finger over the trigger he awaited the order ready to do so the moment she told them to.
The Riot Control Officers would indeed lower their visors which obscured their vision a little, but up this close, it was not too much of an issue. Plus, the rioters would soon have a much harsher vision impediment. The command given Ronan fired a few flash grenades off behind the formation of rioters. They flew through the air, impacted, and then detonated. The other mobile suits joined in this of course and the rioters were being bombarded with the disorientating and concussing grenades. Riot control took full advantage as they pushed forward into the now increasingly disorientated mob. Those they caught were severely beaten for their trouble and then dragged off in handcuffs to be stuffed into an awaiting riot van. More and more the crowd dispersed or was dragged off in chains with bruised bodies.
Sig had watched as the grenades arched from the GM Command and other mobile suits tracking the fast objects with his eyes. Then from over the crowd bright flashed could be seen which from this distance made him squint. Butting his hand over his eyes as if putting a hat visor over then he stared his eyes slowly widened. The riot police had taken the chance to really crack down and he saw people bloodied and sometimes limp dragged off behind the police line. This was rather unfair of them in his opinion, and those grenades could hurt someone if miss aimed. But, there really wasn't anything he could do Sig would realize as he looked up at the GM Command... Or was there? He thought about it for a moment as he stood there, his cloak pushed by the wind. From the situation at hand... All of the mobile suits were focused on rioters... He could help them if he was fast enough. With a nod, he decided and would hurry off past the mobile suit slowly moving into a run as he would head down and away from the cluster of buildings and down the road past the greenery. He was heading east past E9 to get to their hideout.

" I really need to find another job." Captain Kihara would grumble over the comm lines, not happy she was now performing riot control duties. The thought of being used as a tool of opression was making her feel a little disgusted about her path in life. For some reason this cloaked figure seemed to be fixated on their movements which raised a few concerns.
" Seems like we have a runner. This guy is up to something shady, can anyone intercept?" The Captain couldn't shake this uneasy feeling, giving someone instructins to apprehend this mysterious figure who now ran away from them.
" Going somewhere in a hurry?" All of a sudden a log haired woman would com out from the corner of a street, effortlessly grabbing a hold of Sig's and and using the momentum of his run to slam the teen against the stone wall.

Sig winced at the suddenness of being slammed and shoved up against the stone wall of the building. He had tried to run past her but she had been quicker then expected. Blinking he looked down at her hand as it held him in place and followed up her arm to her face. Looking up at her she was just a little taller then him, a little older as well. Not only that, but she as in a Titan's uniform which wasn't a good sign for him at all. He didn't say anything for a moment as she rather forcibly kept him there."I was going home, could you let go please?" he asked not telling a full lie as he stared at her. He didn't make any motions to fight or try and break from her hold knowing that it wouldn't look good if he did that. While he was at it he tried to get a better look at her his eye briefly scanned her over before coming back to her face. At the same time he was trying to get a feeling for what she intended to do.

" So, you decided to go out for a little stroll while the protests was going on? Alright, show me your ID." Marina would firmly request, letting the young man go briefly so he could produce his documents. If there was anything suspicion she would have no problem taking him into their custody. She'd been ordered to investigate this seemingly harmless kid who had been following the movements of their GM unit perhaps a little too closely.
" You don't seem to be from around here ... " Marina commented, she had no idea but figured that by being distrustful she could get him to flinch and contradict his alibi.

"Wh-What?" Sig questioned with a blink sounding a bit concerned and grew ever more nervous as she both demanded to see his ID and also didn't think he was from around here. Had she already sniffed him out so easily? No, there was no way right? He stared at her for a moment in the study as he stood there. No, she was just trying to scare him right? "I live here... this is my home..." he said as he would reach into his cloak and rummage through his pockets. He would pull out his wallet and open it before searching it for a very brief moment. If she was watching she would see a somewhat thick stack of bills before he pulled out his photo ID and closed his wallet. He would then present it to her handing it over. It was an ID given to him by his comrades when they had arrived, a fraudulent fake but a convincing one. It showed his current age (15) and other details including his name. At a glance, it was probably convincing enough, or so he hoped."I just wanted to see the protests and when I saw the mobile suits..." he said trailing off a little knowledge to choose his words carefully."They are cool. But they started shooting those things out." he said glancing over towards the mobile suits. They were indeed cool, but his reasons for counting them out were far from sharing with family and friends."Captain Amelie doesn't talk to me about her job or the mobile suits." he said with a brief shake of his head. Indeed, she had been rather sparse on the details and he didn't know her well enough yet for her to start spilling those details. She was kind of secretive at this point.

Cornelius had a bad feeling about the colony for a while but the news that the entire cluster was to be moved by order of the Federation and that the Titans had been called in the ‘ease the transition’ had been enough to make a familiar pre-battle itch start bothering the veteran of the One Year War. This situation reminded him darkly about the days before Zeon officially declared war on the federation but actively engaging with the Federation forces if things were to get out of hand was simply going to cause more harm than good.
Against his own instincts and interests he had been persuaded to watch the protest by other residents of the base. They had entered the city early and had changed into nondescript civilian clothes or colony work uniforms before disappearing into the city. Cornelius himself was dressed in a pair of indestinct khaki cargo pants and a black and white letterman jacket worn loosely zipped. By the time he had slipped into the demonstration he had found a pair of mirrored sunglasses in the brest pocket and slipped them on. With the glasses in place he slipped the palm sized taser into the right pocket of his jacket and watched the proceedings from within the crowd, making sure to take mental notes on the composition of mobile suits that the Titans brought. At the time he heard a voice announce the group’s last chance to dispurse quietly he melted into those who were leaving, recognizing the outlines of his fellow remnants.
On a morbid curiosity he had hung back and ducked into a side alley off of a street connected to the main site of the protest and leaned back against a doorway and out of sight. He lit a cigarette from a pack and blew a smoke ring at the familiar thump and bang of anti- personnel launchers and closed his eyes before hearing a shrill whistle pierce the air. Based on the sense from this distance and the sounds carried by the wind things were going no better than he had expected. He was about to move down the alley and away when two fighters rushed past. Rather than stick his head out he pressed his back against the wall nearest the way the duo had moved and craned his neck to listen

" You choose one hell of a day to go out sightseeing." Marina scoffed, letting the slightly younger teenager explain his presence. She would glance over his ID not finding anything overly compromising, no doubt these were high quality forgeries that were indistinguishable of the real ones.
" Alright, you may go now. Sorry about that." Now she felt a little remorseful after slamming him face first into that rock wall.
From the sounds of it he knew Captain Amelie from the local Federation garrison but paid little mind to it.
----
As the riot seemed to die down Ryoko relaxed a little on her seat, finding no pleasure whatsoever in getting involved with this.
" I can't shake the feeling there are other places where we could be better used." So far there had been no signs of Zeon remnants anywhere in this Colony cluster which made Ryoko question their presence.

Sig blinked and stood there for a moment as from the sounds of things she was letting him go."I guess so..." he said trailing off a little as he would pocket his wallet and ID card. He wasn't sure what or if he should say or do anything else as based on the sounds int he distance things had died down. But there was somthing else, a feeling he had as he looked at the Titan. She seemed to be... remorseful? He considered it for a moment, not entirely sure if he pinpointed it correctly. Then he looked over to Ryoko and her mobile suit and thought for a moment more."C-Can..." he said looking back to Marina."Can I look at the mobile suit up close?" he asked her with curious eyes.
---
"Agreed, this seems like a waste of time." Ronan sighed tapping his console."We would probably have better luck searching the bottom of the oceans." he mused sitting back a little."If Zeon is here they sure are not showing their ugly heads." he added with with a shrug looking down as the crowds dispersed before them.
