Cornelius had managed to arrive at the hidden Zeon remnant base barely on time. A path was cut through the preparations in the base for the mobile suit and before long his Rick Dom II was loaded aboard the group’s Chibe class battleship. The base was a hive of activity as supplies were gathered and the base was prepared for demolition set to activate on a signal broadcast from the ship as the vessel shipped off.
Right now he had found an eddy in the current of activity and sat down on the edge of the lowest of a stack of crates that were waiting to be moved. His helmet sat next to him with a freshly added tally mark under the simplified ideogram in the shape of a GM’s head. He took a slow drag from the lit cigarette he held in one hand and turned to look at the commander who had just given him another job to do. “So now that I am here you want me to go back out and retrieve your mobile suit from this junk yard.” he looked at the paper with the address and sighed as he eyed it through the cigarette smoke. He glanced up at her and raised an eyebrow slightly. “Forgive me if I speak out of turn to a superior officer, but considering I just returned from an active combat zone, this might cost you though I understand why you have chosen me for this assignment.” The stony look to his face broke after a moment and he chuckled once before giving a salute with his right hand, holding the cigarette in his left. “If we have the chance if we ever reach Earth I may require you to join me for a nice dinner in my old country.” he joked with a small smile.

This current turn of events had taken everyone by surprise. Clara was in a mad rush getting everything on board the ship in and accounted for. In this mad rush she'd realized almost too late that her mobile suit was still stashed away where she'd left it.
" If you can get it done in under 30 minutes consider it done, if not don't bother." Clara was busy, plotting a course to really start arguing with Cornelius. There were still several supplies and ammunition crates left which she personally loaded into the shipping bay using a petite mobile suit.
" This day can't get anymore shitty ... " She would take a second to scratch her blond head. There was no telling when the Titans would surround this colony so every minute counted.

"Ma'am!" Sig said after approaching to get Clara's attention."Let me help." he requested."I can get Cornelius to the Junkyard faster if we use my Zaku Kai." he said wanting to be helpful and not just slink off to be by himself. He had to keep active, and in his mind a part of this was his fault. Or well, a lot of it was, had he not been there that strange newtype would not of detected him. He stared at this with a look of eager determination hoping they would allow him to help.

Cornelius had wanted to give the young newtype a serious dressing down based on his behavior in the last forty eight hours but had restrained himself, preferring to have a cigarette to cool his head. It had already been too late for the pair of them to have been of much other help and that was why the commander had approached him in the first place. Having just barely escaped with his life less than an hour ago he had wound up running his mouth like usual. The adrenaline had gotten the better of him but he had reason to hope someone good was going to come of it.
He stubbed his cigarette against the heel of his boot and stood at ease with his feet shoulder width apart and his arms behind his back. “The kid’s right. Safety in numbers and speed are what we need. I will send Sig back as soon as possible and be right behind him. Permission to depart, Leutinant Commander?” People could say what they want about Cornelius but he had always been good to his word.

" Stay safe you two!" Clara figured that they'd gotten themselves enough time by now since the local Federation garrison had been torn to shreds it would likely take a few hours for them to get their marbles together. She would let both men leave on board that Zaku II Kai, with some luck they wouldn't run out into anymore trouble for the next 20 or so minutes.

"Yes Ma'am!" Sig quickly saluted glad for the opportunity to further prove himself to his comrades. He felt the need to make up for getting caught earlier. He would look over to Cornelius and give a nod."I'll go get the Zaku Kai ready." he said turning around and rushing off to the hanger area. Without another word he made his way to his Zaku II Kai and hop into the cockpit. With him he was going to take the MMP-78 Machine Gun and Heat Hawk Type 5, and he was going to leave behind the Beam Bazooka as he didn't think he would need the fire power. He was also fully stocked up on MIP-B6 Cracker Grenades as he checked his weapon status. After performing a system check he was ready to go as soon as Cornelius was.

Cornelius had arrived at Sig’s mobile suit while it was being armed and readied; there hadn’t been a need for much preparation from him barring grabbing his helmet, wallet, and sidearm. He hadn’t had the time to change into his pilot suit but it had already been packed away with the rest of the cargo.
was oddly quiet for a while and sat with his arms crossed thoughtfully overall his chest. Two people crammed into the cockpit of a Zaku was hardly a comfortable fit but he bore with it quietly and listened to the sound of the Zaku’s engines. With the Federation base in shambles they would be spared having to deal with hostile mobile suits for the time being but he would have preferred that they had brought along weapons anyway.
He finally broke the silence with a sigh. “I appreciate the ride, though the events that lead to this were unnecessary if you’d used caution in the first place.” With that he was silent and relatively motionless for the rest of the passage to the junkyard. There was no need to say more on the matter even though there was plenty more he could have said. Sig could easily feel the frustration that was deep in his chest but at the same instant Cornelius was already past it and focusing on more important things than reading the riot act. Cornelius looked at his watch and nodded with satisfaction. “Three minutes ahead of schedule. We’l move faster if you let me off at the location and then double back on your own.”
Finding the mobile suit had been no easy feat, much to the owner’s obstinacy and insisting that he met with Cornelius’s commander directly. The exchange eventually led to a weapon being drawn in lue of the diplomatic approach that Cornelius would have appreciated. The junkyard owner had eventually capitulated under the leverage of a firearm and had shown the way to the machine. A glance at his watch confirmed Cornelius’s fears and he sighed. Of the thirty minutes he had been allocated more than two thirds had passed and he heard police sirens in the distance through the open cockpit hatch. The Kampfer rumbled to life and stood under his command as he closed the hatch and searched for a weapon. Fortunately both of the machine’s beam sabers were in place and one of its shotguns had been left nearby in a cargo container. Testing the weapon’s action he found it loaded and scooped up the shell he ejected before feeding it back into the weapon. “Base this is Peregrine. I have found the mobile suit and am in route. Do not delay launch, I will find a way out even if I have to cut it myself. No sign of hostile mobile suits at my location, will maintain radio contact.”

At this point in time, Clara had gotten all of their radio communication equipment out of the seemingly abandoned warehouse they'd been occupying. The bridge of their heavy cruisers had been hastily turned into a command post from where she could coordinate their efforts.
" Meet us at the west end of the colony. You won't miss it." So far so good, she thought. Once they were out of the colony it would be the beginning of the real hurdle. The Chivvay wasn't really equipped to handle several Federation ships at once but they'd been careful enough to stash away a few 380mm bazookas along with some ammo but they would have to make each shell count.
Clara had spent six months coming up with an exit strategy in case a day like this one arrived. The Zeonic cruiser dimensions allowed it to fit this narrow passage that led to the docks. Fro there on out Sig was tasked with clearing a way for them. By exiting through the main gate they wouldn't cause any damage to the colony an the Zaku II Kai was capable to clearing what was left. Clara simply had to threaten the crew to get the to willingly allow them access out.
From there on out she activated the main boosters, propelling the heavy cruiser into space, heading for the rendezvous coordinates previously established.

Sig had his Zaku II Kai place a hand on the control room to the gate controls for the port as the Chivvay-class waited to be let through. He didn't say anything but as his mobile suit's monoeye centered on the window it flashed. He let Clara do the talking and before long the gates had opened allowing the heavy space cruiser to sail on out of the colony. With a push of his thrusters he followed next to the ship as it exited and then accelerated to match it's speed. Sig breathed out a bit relieved that they had gotten out of there in one piece. But, he knew that they were not fully out of the woods yet as he brought his mobile suit ahead of the ship. Paying attention to his sensors and then visually looking around he didn't see anything or sense anything out of the ordinary.
Back when Cornelius had spoken to him he had desperately wanted to tell him it wasn't his fault, that he had to get out of there one way or another. But he knew that Cornelius wouldn't listen, he could feel it from just look at them. So he had resigned to himself and gotten over with taxing Cornelius to the junkyard. Then as he had been requested to left to join up with escourting the ship out of the colony. No doubt everyone thought he was some burdon and a clumsy idiot now for having gotten himself caught. But! This was his chance to make up for it.

Cornelius had found himself a maintenance hatch large enough to accommodate a mobile suit and slipped inside, sealing and locking the door behind him. He was beginning opening and the outer door when a shadow passed in front of the horizontal door and he froze the controls in a moment. The Kampfer pressed itself against the wall and he peered through the crack. What he saw was enough to make a chill touch a nerve.
“LC, we have a problem by the looks of it. A Salamis class is approaching the colony from outside escorted by...” he paused for a moment as a pair of humanoid figures passed along with the ship. “Count two GM Guard types carrying shields. I couldn’t get a good look at the second but one of them is carrying a beam rifle.”

" Falcon-2, I am going to have you go back him up. Take out that Salamis class if possible." Clara gave Sig clearance to take one of their heavier bazookas. For the sake of cutting ammo expenditures only two rounds were loaded in the weapon's magazine. As good as the Kampfer performance was, she wasn't going to let Cornelius take on those odds all by himself.
For the time being she figured it would be better to keep Cornelius Dom II in reserve and only go out in it in case of a real emergency. The only priority right now was abandoning this airspace before anyone else showed up.

"This is Falcon-2. Understood. Will equip a Anti Ship Bazooka and move to engage." he said as he gently turned his Zaku II Kai around and began to slow it down. Eventually coming up to the hanger bay of the Chivvay-class. Landing inside he would use his maneuver thrusters and Attitude Control Verniers to guide himself down through the hanger bay. After a moment he would bring himself to a stop next to a weapons rack. Reaching out with his Zaku's left hand he grabbed a hold of a 360mm Giant Bazooka II rocking it out of place before reaching it back and snapping it into place on his rear hardpoint. With the magazine loaded in which had two rounds he was all set to got.
"This is Falcon-2, departing now." Sig would updated as he would kick off from the hanger and take off to go meet with Cornelius.

Cornelius gave both the mobile suit and the Salamis along count after their shadows passed before pushing the door open manually. The putter hatch from the colony opened with a slight rumble that Cornelius could only feel from his contact with his mobile suit. He eased his suit clear of the hatch with the AMBAC system and steadied himself with controlled bursts from his vernier engines. Rather than follow the ship and the suits directly he took off after them and slowly moved vertically along the curve of the colony until he was able to accelerate to a slightly more respectable pace while still remain some cover.
He had swallowed slightly when he realized that the vessel and its escort were moving on a course parallel to his own. The Kampfer could outpace both of the GMs in a straight line and had better performance but he wasn’t sure if he was ready to go up against both of them in a fight with the weapons he had available. As he followed them he began to wonder whether or not this was merely a small patrol group or if the GMs belonged to a motherships than had either already docked or remained hidden. He gritted his teeth slightly and watched them, pushing the thought from his head. Dwelling on such things was the kind of thing that got pilots killed and he had more important things to do than worry about it.

Ensign Marina Von Witzland sat on her battle station inside the Salamis battle bridge acting as the link between the mobile suit pilots and their commander. The federation cruiser had already detected the Zeonic heavy cruiser but was unable to engage it with its main armament with the colony right between them.
There were two more mobile suits docked to the Salamis exterior. An observer noticed the Kampfer approaching them at close range and rushed ring up the alarm.
" Unknown mobile suit sighted at our six! You're cleared to engage Sea Hawk." Marina would signal the pair of GM Guard types whom now dispersed and went on different directions. Their shields raised to face the Kampfer at all times even as they maneuvered to minimize the Kampfer's inherent advantages.
" We got another bandit approaching from our starboard, it appears to be a Zaku type. Viper-1 you're cleared to launch." Marina would signal the Lt. on standby.

"Understood. Launching." Sonia would reply as she hit the release button and then pushed off from the belly of the Salamis."Lets see what these Zeons are capable of..." she said as she moved to intercept with her GM Command Space Type. In the right hand was a BOWA BG-M-79F-3A Beam Gun and in the left was a NFHI RGM-M-Sh-AGD Shield. The shield she raised to absorb fire on approach and her Beam Gun ready to return fire. Moving through the silence of space over the hull of the colony Sania kept her eyes forward moving towards where the enemy mobile suit had been detected. She was trying to gain as much momentum and energy as possible. If she started with more initial energy on a pass then her advantage was certain. It was an old military tactic, boom and Zoom. While energy conservation was much easier in space the same principle applied and plus she became a harder to hit target.
Upon seeing the mobile suit in question which seemed to be close to the surface of the colony she orientated her shield towards it and poked her gun from out behind it. Leading her shot she pulled the trigger twice sending two shots of beam fire down. Momentum and speed carried her over as she then used AMBAC to adjust and orientate herself to reface the Kampfer."Got eyes on the mobile suit, It's a Kampfer." she reported back quickly not wanting to have wasted time prior to taking her initial shots.
Sig meanwhile piloting his Zaku II Kai was fast approaching. He saw flashes and streak in the distance, signs of a fight. Adjusting his shoulders and breathing out he brought up a zoom window. The mono eye of his Zaku II flashed as it did so and he got a better look at the enemy ship. He wanted to disable it somehow so they could get out of there safely. Two shots... he could either go for the engines or bridge...
