Mars Location: [Redacted] Time: 23:19 Weather: Martian Sandstorm
Inside the entrance to the facility the howling sand storm could be heard outside. ThiS coupled with the emergency lighting from the facility's generators going out. Worse still this storm while forcasted would delay repairs and the supply delivery on the way. This was furthere compunded by reports that VIP's might be on the way with the supplys since the facility had produced it's first finished models.
Deeper in the facility a man stood on a catwalk looking out at three currently closed bays. He didn't need to see inside of them to know what they contained. It was done incase some minor fanfare was needed for the benefactors of this project. Afterall without the manpower, extra resources, and data from a new federation prototype likely at best a single suit would be done at best. But now there were three all of them ready for field testing.
The man let himself smile ever so slightly. It was a rare thing he allowed himself only when he was sure that his attention would not actually be needed. He couldn't actually remember the last time he had actually alloted himself one of these rare true smiles. Unlike the false ones required for the sake of politicking.

This purple haired woman in her early 30s had shown up one day as part of the crew assigned together to work on these prototypes. Jane Mason was not a stranger to getting her hands dirty, unlike other engineers who merely supervised the labor she was in physical contact with the test mobile suits with whatever tools in hand she needed at that particular moment.
Jane's attire consisted of the same blue coveralls as everyone else. There was nothing particularly remarkable about her besides that long purple hair she kept neatly tied back. She had performed the basic maintenance prior to this test. Sucess or failure depended entirely on the crew servicing these machines prior to this event so she stood by the monitoring station, silently observing with interest how the unveiling played out before their very eyes.

The man now content made his way to the testing chamber. There a 4th much smaller machine was hooked up for data gathering. It was the runt of the metaphorical litter but it was also built mainly with the new Micro Honeycomb concept data. Even with its original design already being compact the data allowed for it to further be compacted down to a mere 9.82 meters tall!
Here he also Imagined the actual hands on mechance from the lot mars zeon had given him would be eyeballs deep in machine. The suit had gained the nickname of gremlin from its accident plauged development. Ironic considering the role it was designed to fufil. For safety reasons the machine had been separated into its three component sections and double security locked in place.

It was clear this new design used data they had retrieved directly from the captured F90 Gundam. Jane had been part of the team that extracted this data having disassembled several components and putting them back together before it was handed back to their original owners.
Jane couldn't help but wonder if a test pilot had already been selected. This was a dangerous job and whoever was leading the project would certainly pick someone with the necessary skills in and out of the cockpit no doubt. Test pilots were the cream of the crop, certainly not hatch-lings that had just earned their wings.
Not a stranger to unconventional designs she was wondering where this development would go once they got the first test flights going. So far it inspired confidence, at least to her.

Jane could hear a rapping on the frame of the mobile suit. Likely she already knew it was. The voice that came after would confirm the visitor. The voice was none other than Director Rhom. A man who started this project and was surprisingly civilian despite the fact he was overseeing and directing the development of weapons of war. Weapons that would likely be bathed in blood soon enough if the Federation wasn't neutralized.
"Hello Engineer Jane. you seem to be burning the almost literal midnight oil. Something catch your eye?"

" I always look forward to work on the latest projects and this the perfect opportunity to test out some of these newer interesting concepts. It's always a pleasure to get my hands on these prototypes." Jane was more than happy to be given the opportunity to work on projects such as these. A woman truly dedicated to her job, she expressed herself with a child like enthusiasm.
Max might have been the head of this project but Jane had not meet the man before, at least not in person nor that she remembered. He had no doubt been around way before her time so she would remain respectful to an elder. Whoever wielded this power mattered little to Jane. Her sole gain in all of this was honing her craft before anything else. She was truly a Lunarian in every sense of the word.

"I applaud your initiative. I'm sure your colleges didn't want to get dirty when somebody else could do it for them. Quite possibly why there have been so many accidents around this project." Max said thoughtfully. Afterall with Newtypes existing how could one really rule out other supernatural phenomenon. Especially when powerful new types can seemingly break the laws of physics.
"Your enthusiam reminds me of my younger days working on other projects. No shortage of test pilots then. Now I fear that they are all soon to be unavailable. We can thank the federation for that...
Actually how would you like to be the test pilot for this machine?" Max'S offer was a loaded thing and he knew it. But given his measure of jane he believed she was likely to take the bait. If she did her performance would help him gauge just how effective his efforts were to make the machineS controls as user friendly as possible.

" I would be delighted." Jane was not an stranger to risks. Right now no matter where she went on Mars, danger seemed to be lurking just around any corner. What difference would it make here doing something she personally loved. From the looks of it these were just the preliminary tests which meant there were still a lot of edges that needed to be sanded off.
Jane was aware at this early point in the project there would be no manual but the cocpit used existing technology which she was fairly familiarized with.

"Well you certainly have the job if you want it. Unless you want a chance at working on an existing mobile suit a prospective pilot candidate i have on my lists has deployed in. I cant speak for the condition of the suit when he comes back from deployment, but he caught my eye by taking 'Throwback' suits and working his way up. A very interesting decision for a pilot to make." The pilot in question had taken out in an RF Dom Stutzer. A machine reminiscent of the Rezeon Dom Stutzer which had given max and many other martians a very difficult time after the gryps conflict until Mars Zeon took over. A much kinder and reasonable master for the red planet named after an ancient war god. But it seemed to max that Mars had taken hold of many hearts and minds to bring about a this conflict. It just couldn't handle so many years free of conflict. He couldn't blame the mysterious force if it existed. He too had been feeling his burning embers being fed new fuel in the past decade or so. It was a welcome change in a twisted way. not that anyone would know of him outside of his development company and real estate investments.

" I got my sights set on working on the new developments. improving on these new technologies will certainly increase the value of our research." Jane was clearly motivated by profit first as opposed with merely tinkering away at legacy models. The Lunarian had little to no interest to work on machines already in service and while the RF Dom was not a bad mobile suit she wasn't looking forward with the mess of wire the Stutzer equipment carried.
" My hands are going to be full working on this new machine. I won't have the time to commit myself to this other program. Certainly you must understand." Jane would respectfully and thoughtfully decline.

"Then tell me how the systems are doing now. The last report I read stated several dozen synch errors between the core unit systems and the proper suit systems."
The old man knew she likely already had the problem solved in her own unique way. It was hopefully repeatable for future units that were produced with the same base.
As it stood this unit was a bare bones test bed. A proof of concept to expand from. Already he could see a model for this suit for Sabatoge and Gurilla warfare. Ironically called the gremlin due to how many technical issues had come up with this core machines development.

" I have changed the entire wiring, replaced every single faulty connector with something that's guaranteed to work. A lot of the new components we got had factory deficiencies so I had to do a little fixing on the spot." Jane was shocked to find some of these components came with defects and she couldn't tell if it was sabotage or just bad quality control, it was a good thing she had the tools available to fix some of these defects but she had to recycle a lot of parts from older models to get this Gremlin to work as intended.
" The performance won't be as good as what's in your blueprints but I guarantee you it will start and engage it's primary functions." What mattered right now was getting these two separate components to make their main gimmick work, having at the very least something to show for it.

"Well it is just a test machine. It only needs to work, we can make refined versions later. I do apreaciate your candor and hope you enjoy being a test pilot, we can even get you a trainer wisp so you have a fallback."
Maxamilian smiled kindly and heard a chirp indicating he had a message. He pulled out a small tablet and checked. He was very suprised and pleased to see what greeted him. Images of a white machine bound and strung up inside of a hangar with a young girl being restrained at gun point.
"Well it seems we just won a great victory on the moral front." Maxamilian showed the plucky engineer the tablet.

" Hmmm ... " Jane would gaze upon the tablet, recognizing the tactical markings on this rather large and mystrious mobile suit. Certainly a desing she hadn't seen before though that color scheme was widely used by the Federation.
" Woah! I hadn't seen that thing before. it looks like a bigger, meaner Nu Gundam of sorts." She was awe struck by the Sinanju Stein unique shape. While it was clearly an Anaheim design not many people had laid eyes on the Stein project, not even someone with insider knowledge like Jane who had actually worked for that company for a few years knew anything about it.
