Savino sat quietly in the brig, just staring at a wall. He had surrendered himself to Marina's ship after seeing Ronan get killed. There were few 'friends' and comrades he had from his days in the AEUG. Many were long gone, and many more were no where to be seen. He only passongly knew Marina, and they had been on opposing sides. So, she wouldn't be able to confirm who or what he was. At this moment he realized he was as good as any other pow.
But maybe this was the path? He was making his own choices now. That voice in the back of his head was gone. He had broken free. Savino sharply breathed in as he leaned back against the cool metal wall. It had been his choice. He wondered though, where that next war was. When would he decide what it was? He shook the idea. Some of the old thoughts still remained.

A EF petty officer would walk up to Savino's cell. An armed guard remained within hearing distance. Normally, visits would be forbidden but these crewmen were very trusting of each other for the looks of it. There were a few things even the guard wanted to know about their prisoner. The blunette girl didn't look older than 25. Not many people in this ship were older than 30 something. The girl would knock at the door to get Savino's attention. These were solid doors with a way in to slide food trays in but it was possible to talk with people outside and into the hall. " Excuse me? I am not trying to coerce a confession out of you, I only have a few questions." From her fumbling demeanor it was easy to deduct the girl was unsure how to deal with a situation such as this one. " I was wondering why do you people keep fighting the way you do?" She would ask with genuine child like curiosity.

Savino glanced to the door, staring at it for a moment as he listened to what the blunete had to say. He wasnt surprised by the visit, but the question took him off guard. Visions of his past flew before his eyes as he glanced away for a moment. Being strapped down to a operating table... sitting in a sterile class room... and a speech from Gihren."There are reasons..." he said a little cryptically at first before turning towards the door.
"I can only speak from my own experiences... But, I will do my best to convey the reason they fight like this." He said said before taking it a slow breath."Imagine for a moment being raised in an echo chamber of an environment where the only opinions being shared is that the Federarion has and always will be corrupt. That the souls of the people within the Federation are weighed down by gravity. Mix that generalized opinion in with various amounts of severity and then add the ambition... the greed... of leaders? That is the environment all of these people you have been fighting. They view you as the end all be all threat. Whether you believe that humanity needs to leave earth or that spacenoids are superior to earthnoids, the Federation is the ultimate unifier to them. It's why they keep coming back from what ever cockroach infest hole you drive them into. In those holes they just amplify the echoes and drive propaganda into the heads of children. Sometimes literally."
He said all of this in a rather dark and unhopeful tone. What ever Mars Zeon pretended to be, he made no mistake what it emerged from. What people like the Rozen Knight were capable of doing. What ambition and greed could do to it much like it had done to the Zeon Republic all those years ago.

The girl who was about 20 years younger found it difficult to wrap her head around Savino's story, it was certainly a lot to take in all at once seeing it wasn't often she got to talk to an actual Zeonic combatant. The vast majority of the Federation combat personnel currently in service had never fired a shot in anger before.
Tanis felt conflicted about all of this, particularly at Savino's sorrow. As much as she wanted to be upset at him for being their enemies part of her had a certain feeling of pity.
" That's messed up,old man." Was all she could gasp as a reply. Their current commander had given them permission to execute all prisoners but it was just that "permission" which many objected. Tanis wasn't going to tell Savino this, of course.

"It really is. Isn't it?" He said lookinv at the door."I never really bought into a lot of it. Just went along with the motions. The only time I ever felt like I was fighting for something right was when I was in AEUG. Unfortunately that still didn't turn out right." He said leaning back a little.
