Name: Gero Beornheard Alias/Nickname/Callsign: Gray Knight Rank: Captain Genetic Status/Specialized Race: Oldtype Gender: Male Age: 50 Date of Birth: April 26, UC 0061 Height: 6' 3" Weight: 238lbs Blood Type: Type AB Nationality/Ethnicity: German Affiliations: Earth Federation Space Forces PERSONALITY & TRAITS Gero is a natural leader who tends to put others before himself. Though reluctant years ago Gero has come to accept his talents, and has become more kind and understanding with age. Despite this the instincts that earned him his old nickname "Wilder Jäger" are still present, leading him to have to force himself to stay in the Captain's chair whenever a battle breaks out. Unlike stereotypical Federation personnel Gero is fond of space, however he believes Zeons and those like them are misguided in believing that they are something other than Earthlings; and so he contributes what he is able towards reuniting humanity. Gero is interested in trains, and enjoys studying Earth's history and writing from time to time. |

"I love space. The weightlessness, the silence...its depths numb like nothing else. But there are those who fall too far, forget where they come from, and go mad." Gero grew up the problem child in his family. He was constantly getting into trouble with the powers that be, racking up multiple counts of vandalism and assault, though he always felt more mischievous than anything. As the One Year War started Gero joined the Federation to put Zeons in their place and it eventually became his life. Mankind is one entity, and it should venture into space as such. For his love of the sky he participated as a fighter pilot, causing havoc for Zeon with a new Jet Core Booster II and earning a couple nicknames among his peers. Some referred to him as "Grayscale Gero," due to his Booster's bland color scheme, while those who had seen his work first-hand began to call him "Blitz" for his extremely reckless flying and aggressive hit-and-run style. Zeon soldiers however named him after the "Wilde Jagd," an old folktale. Gero continued fighting Zeon remnants on Earth with his Core Booster until UC 0081 when he started mobile suit training with the GM Type C. While he was uncomfortable outside of his fighter, Gero did adapt to the larger, slower GM and its heavy weaponry, managing to cause just as much if not more damage than he would before. Activity picked up again in UC 0083 when the Delaz Fleet carried out Operation Stardust, causing the Federation to found the Titans. Gero joined the Titans without hesitation, and received a number of benefits that the Federation hadn't been willing to give him due to his behavior. His demeanor and accomplishments meant something to the Titans. He had been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, given command of his own team, and his GM Type C was upgraded to the high mobility prototype package. Although he accepted the team he was given and performed his duties well, Gero lacked confidence in his leadership abilities and tended to focus more on doing his job as just another pilot. He continued hunting Zeon remnants, flying into the Gryps Conflict with a new Asshimar he later outfit his team with. As the Federation worked to move their headquarters to Kilimanjaro in UC 0087, Gero was sent to the Titans' New Guinea base and tasked with its defense as materials were transferred. During this time the base came under surprise attack by Karaba forces. During the fighting Gero attempted to move his team to flank their enemy, however they met more resistance than expected and the team abandoned its reckless leader. He was subsequently disabled and crashed, only to be recovered by the Karaba attackers. While under Karaba's eye Gero had a bit more freedom than he would have expected, though his reputation preceded him, as he was constantly shadowed by former Zeon pilot Hilde Nietzsche. When Gero found out she was the one who shot him down he began to pick fights with the woman who, despite her quiet personality, fought back hard. This more than surprised him and he took a liking to her, their fights eventually looking more like cubs playing than bar brawls. Gero soon submitted that he would like to join Karaba, stating that after everything he had seen he understood that the Titans were more a detriment to the unification of Earth and space. After completing a trial sortie in which he ended up fighting and defeating his old team, Gero was welcomed into Karaba and fought with them through the rest of the Gryps Conflict. Gero stayed with Karaba through the first Neo Zeon movement and New Desides uprising, eventually given the responsibility of commanding his own team once more. In UC 0089, at the end of these conflicts, Gero proposed to and married Hilde Nietzsche. Their first daughter, Karen, was born later that year. Following these incidents Gero had rejoined the Federation and earned himself more responsibility. He quickly went from overseeing crew operations aboard a Salamis Kai vessel, to being promoted to Captain of a Jupiter Fleet defense vessel. Having a second child at the time, and the close calls he faced during the second Neo Zeon war, this seemed like the safest option for him. Years later he has settled into his position and is accompanied by his eldest daughter, Karen, who pilots for him. |
